How and when to use ND filters, and what the numbers mean…!

Have you ever wondered how professional photographers capture movement in their landscapes to produce soft, blurry clouds and misty waterfalls?  Are your long exposures just not delivering the same effect?  <Here> are some ways to get the same results as those professionals, provided by Digital Camera World…!

Urgent Competition Reminder…!

Good day to all you members of the Bedford Camera Club…!  How time flies when we’re having fun, right…?!  Just a reminder that our next competition – Open theme – is being held on the 8th of December, but your images – both prints and PDIs – are due into the competition secretary no later than this coming Tuesday, the 1st of December, at midnight…!  Please don’t be late…!

Also as a reminder, whenever you submit your PDIs for a PRINT competition, the subject line must read “BCC PRINTS XX-XX-XX” where the ‘Xs’ stand for the day, month and year.  For example, this next competition is the 8th of December, so the subject line for the PRINT PDIs must read “BCC PRINTS 08-12-15”.  There’s no need to include the quote marks, however.

And whenever you submit your PDIs for a PDI competition, the subject line must read “BCC PDI XX-XX-XX” where the ‘Xs’ stand for the day, month and year.  For example, this next competition is the 8th of December, so the subject line for the PDI PDIs must read “BCC PDI 08-12-15” and, as stated above, there’s no need to include the quote marks.

Please also remember to provide the correct naming conventions, the correct colour profile (sRGB), and the added black borders to comply with the 1400 X 1050 requirement.

Thanks!, and good luck…!

Competition Rule Change Update…!

Greetings to all Members of the BCC…!

As most of you already know, we’re still having a few growing pains with getting our PDIs to the competition secretary.  The below ‘fix’ will help to alleviate the problems, and should be used from this point on when submitting your PDIs for both the PDI and the Prints competitions.

Whenever you submit your PDIs for a PRINT competition, the subject line must read “BCC PRINTS XX-XX-XX” where the ‘Xs’ stand for the day, month and year.  For example, the next competition is the 8th of December, so the subject line for the PRINT PDIs must read “BCC PRINTS 08-12-15”.  There’s no need to include the quote marks, however.

Whenever you submit your PDIs for a PDI competition, the subject line must read “BCC PDI XX-XX-XX” where the ‘Xs’ stand for the day, month and year.  For example, the next competition is the 8th of December, so the subject line for the PDI PDIs must read “BCC PDI 08-12-15” and, as stated above, there’s no need to include the quote marks.

Please also remember to provide the correct naming conventions, the correct colour profile (sRGB), and the added black borders to comply with the 1400 X 1050 requirement.

And lastly, in an on-going effort to do the best possible job for the club, the competition secretaries put in a lot of time and effort to ensure that everything goes smoothly, and to do that within a reasonable time period (we have other lives as well…!), it is imperative that your images are received by us by midnight the Tuesday before the competition.  We all know well in advance when the competitions are, and it’s no hardship to help the committee chairmen by getting your images to us no later than that time, and preferably sooner.  Any later than midnight, and your image(s) will be rejected and held over for a future competition.  Thanks for your understanding with this.

Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask at the next meeting…!

Movin’ On…!

Last night’s meeting was, in fact, the last BCC regular meeting for both Diana and Barrie Moss, two of our most valuable members.  They’re moving from Bedford to be closer to their grandchildren who live in Windsor, and I believe I speak for all members of the Bedford Camera Club when I say we will miss them a great deal.  Diana held numerous committee positions within the club during her time as a member, including President and Exhibition Chairperson, both of which took a great deal of her time.  She took on both positions with a goal to be the best she could be, and she got top marks for her efforts!  The photo shows several club members surrounding Diana & Barrie just after they opened a going-away gift from those assembled.  Good luck to you both, and please keep in touch with us…!
