Members’ Evening 13th November 2018
This is your reminder from Bruce that, following last year’s success, we are holding our second camera phone competition on 13th November.
You may enter up to 6 images on any subject, colour or monochrome, as creative as you like – you are only held back by your own imagination! Should we be overwhelmed with entries, we may use fewer than 6 images from each author so please make sure you enter your favoured images first.
The closing date is Tuesday 6th November.
Submit your entries via Photoentry following the usual rules for image size, colour profile etc. The competition is open and ready for your entries.
This is going to be a light-hearted in-house competition with images critiqued by three “celebrity judges” with member participation.
Be sure to join in the fun!
I am sure you all had a great evening’s photography last night with our excellent models.
The Next Step
Now it is time to upload your best images so they can be passed to each of the models.
When you log in to PhotoEntry you will see that under the heading ‘Other Internal Competitions’ there is a listing ‘Portraits 23rd October’.
Please upload your best images to here. You may add up to 20 images of up to 6000 x 6000 pixels, with the normal file size maximum of 10MB per image.
(On PhotoEntry, when you go to upload your images, you will see: Target Dimensions width 6000, height 6000. For this time, in fact, this is the maximum size and not a target to aim for, so just upload your largest image up to this dimension.)
Please make the effort to add your images so we can reward the models for their hard work.
This is your reminder that our next competition is the Stan Searle Trophy taking place on 6th November.
Please remember that this is a PRINTS only competition. The closing date is midnight next Tuesday, 30th October.
You may enter up to three images with the theme ‘Person or People’.
Bring your prints along next Tuesday. If this is not possible please contact Linda at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange to deliver them to her.
Each print must have a corresponding PDI. Enter those via photoentry before the competition closes on Tuesday.
Looking forward to another great competition.
Seasonal Points Scores
Now that we use Photoentry to upload our images for competitions, we have a new bonus feature.
By logging in with your user ID, you will see that your scores for this week’s competition are now recorded.
Just go to Seasonal Points 2018 – 19 and select either the PDIs or Prints 16th October competition. You will see your scores to the right of your images.
You can also compare results by viewing all scores in each competition.
To do this go to the Seasonal Points page. Above the list of competitions you will see two buttons
- the first states League PDIs/prints 2018-19, you can use the down arrow to choose between the two
- click on the second ‘Show Series Results’ to reveal a list of all scores in the competition
Remember that all future competitions are open for you to enter your images at any time you like.
By now you should all have received an email containing your log in details and temporary password to enable you to access PhotoEntry.
For those of you who are not yet aware, this is the system we are now using to enter images into competitions. It is going to make life much easier as you no longer need to email images to the competition secretary, just upload them to PhotoEntry. Even better, you do not need to add black borders to your images.
To find out how to use PhotoEntry, on the club website go to the Competitions menu, Submitting Images and Prints. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will find links to an excellent video demonstration and a PDF document of instructions which make the process very easy to follow.
If you experience any difficulties or you don’t receive your login details (remember to check your spam box) then please contact Linda or Ian at email@example.com.
Our first Seasonal Points competition is on 16th October so your images need to be in by Tuesday 9th October. We look forward to seeing some super entries.
The new season is almost upon us.
I hope you are all sifting through your images from the summer ready for our first competition on 16th October (last entry date 9th Oct)
See here for more details
This season we are going to be using a new system for submitting images into competitions called PhotoEntry.
All will be explained on the first night of the new season, 2nd October.
Please do not submit any images before that date.
You will receive login information for PhotoEntry on, or shortly after, 2nd October.
If you are not able to attend that night you will find an excellent video and written instructions on the website which will guide you through the process.
Look out for further information which will be sent out nearer the time.
The summer is almost over and our new season will begin soon.
To have one last celebration of summer, we will have a light-hearted competition onTuesday 2nd October, our first evening meeting.
Everyone who has taken part in any of our summer events this year are invited to take part. Please select up to 6 images to send in. We may not use them all, depending on how many members take part, so please enter your favourite images first. Please use the usual internal competition rules.
This will be an informal competition with the winner voted for by members. There may be a prize!
The closing date for this competition is midnight on Tuesday 25th September.
On this occasion would you please email Linda by 11th September if you intend to take part – you do not have to have selected your images by this time. The reason for signing up in advance is that we have a surprise for you. We would very much like you to be part of a pilot project we are trialling.
More information will be shared with you once you have added your name to Linda’s list.
Looking forward to seeing your memories of our summer season.
