Bedford Camera Club member Chris Barclay has forwarded the following information on what he believes will be a fabulous day and a great photoshoot opportunity.

Chris is expected to be going and those members who might to meet up with Chris on the day, please send him an email to chris.barclay@gmail.com.  Chris will  put together some shooting tips for aircraft/airshows. The big attraction at Shuttleworth are the beautiful natural backgrounds against which you can place your aircraft. He is told by a photographer friend than this is about the only remaining large UK air show where you are able to be close to the aircraft.

There is 5 hours to wander and be able to shoot detail shots of engines, props, pilots wearing traditional gear.

The entrance fee is £25 until 27th May and children  go free if you book online – see below. The  cost goes up to  £30 at the gate on the day.

For those who don’t want to spend £25 there is a natural grandstand/hill overlooking the airfield, on a public footpath between Ickwell and Upper Caldecote. Depending upon the flight paths it can provide good shots of planes in the air however you would require a very long telephoto lens for the airfield itself! No toilets, no announcements etc. Parking is severely restricted on many of the roads around the airfield
