Summer Events Update 14 June 2021

Summer Events Update 14 June 2021

This is an update to my Newsletter of 10 June 2021.

A revised list of events is here, and a list of photo opportunities is here.

I have added two potential events to the list which will go ahead if enough people are interested.  Kathy Browns is open to the public but we could organise a club only event. Linda has also offered to lead a visit to Segenhoe Church with limited numbers. Please get in touch in the usual way if you are interested.

At Linda's suggestion I have added some photo opportunity sites for you to think about, Hitchen Lavender, Summerleys and Rushmere Park. No organised events are planned here yet.  A visit to the lavender fields needs to be booked online.

Please get in touch via summerevents@bedfordcameraclub.co.uk for further information about anything on these lists.

Last call for Woburn Walk on 15 June 2021

This is an update to my Newsletter of 3 June 2021.

A revised list of events is here, and a list of photo opportunities is here.

This is the last reminder for the Woburn Walk on Tuesday 15th. We expect there will be wild flowers and ferns to photograph, rhododendrons and deer.  Also wallabies through the fence and any other safari park animals that show.  Anyone who has not already expressed interest please get in touch via summerevents@bedfordcameraclub and I will make sure you get all the details. The weather is set fair so what's not to like?

The visit to Totternhoe Knolls has now been confirmed for Friday 2 July.  This is a great place to see bugs and plants.  Please get in touch if you would like to attend.

As ever you can contact me via summerevents@bedfordcameraclub.co.uk  for more details on any of the outings or if you have any ideas for more Summer Events.

Summer Events Update 3 June 2021

This is an update to my Newsletter of 1 June 2021.

A revised list of events is here, and a list of photo opportunities is here.

Two events have been added to the Events List, Kimbolton town and Box End Watersports.

A date has been fixed for the trip to Kimbolton, 29 June @18;00hrs. If you are interested please get in touch with Clive Williams via summerevents@bedfordcameraclub.co.uk .  Previous responses have been noted. Clive will be in touch with further details in due course.

A new event has been added at the Box End Watersports centre.  We are invited to photograph one of their club evenings on payment of sharing the results of our endeavours. The date is 13 July.  Get in touch with Steve Newman via summerevents@bedfordcameraclub.co.uk for further details.

There are two additions to the Photo opportunities list.

First this coming Sunday, 6 June , the Grafman triathlon, link here and second the Great Balloon Race at Shuttleworth on 25-27 June, link here.

Both these events are public. We could coordinate a visit if enough interest is shown or you can turn up under your own steam.

As ever you can get in touch via summerevents@bedfordcameraclub.co.uk for more details or if you have any ideas for more Summer Events. And don't forget the early morning flower shoot tomorrow.

Summer Events Update 26 May 2021

This is an update to my Newsletter of 25 May 2021.

A revised list of events is here, and a list of photo opportunities is here.

Addition to the potential event list, is a trip to the Birds of Prey Centre at Wilstead, contact Paul Curtis.  A private evening session can be arranged for 8-10 people at a cost of £25 per head. We have had successful visits here in previous summers and I can personally recommend it.  Get in touch via summerevents@bedfordcameraclub.co.uk if you are interested.

I have added to the Photo opportunity list a number of ideas from Paul Curtis

1 American Cemetery at Madingley

2 Woburn Safari Park

3 IWM at Duxford

4 Shuttleworth (including Swiss Garden and Hangers)

A visit to these venues would be as a regular punter during the working day, there would be no special facilities to the club as a group, but if there is sufficient interest a group outing could be arranged.  More details of each are available on the websites. As ever get in touch via summerevents@bedfordcameraclub.co.uk

Tuesday Evenings 25 May and 1 June

Tuesday Evenings 25 May and 1 June

Tuesday 25th evening we have two events clashing for your attention, the Travel Photography presentation (see Vaughan’s Newsletter of May 18 for joining instructions) and our weekly drop-in Zoom get together.  The Zoom lines will be open if you want to do the proverbial.

Next Tuesday June 1, the drop-in will include the “Josh-Slot”, so come along then to hear what Josh has got to say.

While I have got your attention, don’t forget to let me have your proposals for  summer activities. Just email me at summerevents@bedfordcameraclub.co.uk.  I will be updating our lists shortly with proposals so far received; my thanks to the contributors.

Summer Events Update 15 May 2021

Summer Events 2021

For the next few months we will be hosting member led events to take photographic advantage of the longer days and the relaxation of restrictions imposed by the pandemic.

I will act as coordinator of these events and I will post here new events as they are put forward by members. I will keep a comprehensive list of all events which will give more details and how to contact the organising member and I will provide a link in any post.  The current list can be seen here [ https://tinyurl.com/BCCSummer21-2 ] There will also be a list of other external happenings eg a vintage car rally, that might provide a photo opportunity which may or may not be subject to a club outing. The current list can be seen here [ https://tinyurl.com/BCCSummer21-3 ].

Both lists will be driven by members.  If you have a contribution to either get in touch with me at summerevents@bedfordcameraclub.co.uk.

The event may need little or no organising eg “Going on a bug hunt to Priory Park Thursday evening.  Join me. Contact….”. It can then be added to the updated event list.

For events requiring more organising we will have to see if there is sufficient interest to proceed by the response from members.  When these ideas are added to the list I will indicate if sign up from a critical number is needed before we proceed.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss the viability of your idea and what would be involved in setting up the event.

That’s it for now.  Keep your eye on the newsletters to find out current plans.

Higgins

“We are all in the midst of it now, but one day this pandemic will be history. The full impact of the COVID-19 crisis will be important to document and evaluate for future generations looking back at this historic event.”

The Higgins Museum, Bedford is reaching out to photographers and others to help document these days for future generations. Can you help?
